In March of 2019, Southern States Management Group, Inc. (SSMG) celebrated our 30th year as a family owned and operated community management firm with offices in Volusia and Flagler Counties.  In the interest of giving back to the very community that has supported us and our clients we created a private foundation with a focus on improving the standard of living of those in need in our immediate area.  Specific emphasis will be placed on transitional & permanent housing, physical and mental wellness, social stability and educational opportunity; we believe that these factors are paramount for a state of improved livability.  More specifically, the overarching goal of the foundation is to provide financial and in-kind resources that will directly and immediately improve the quality of life of an individual or family in Volusia or Flagler County.

Southern States Management Group Community Foundation chose Family Renew Community as the beneficiary for their 1st Annual Golf Classic that happened on Monday, July 27, 2020.

Family Renew Community provides safe and stable transitional housing for area families with children in need and equips them with the tools they need to be self-sufficient going forward.  The organization has 32 apartments at 3 different campuses in Holly Hill, Daytona Beach and DeLand.  These housing units are available for six months or more with no rent or utility payments due.   Family Renew Community offers about 60 families a year safe haven from desperate situations and offers more than just temporary shelter.  In the security and modest comfort of private, furnished apartments, families heal. Children go to school rested, bathed, in clean clothes and ready to study and play. With intensive yet compassionate guidance from case managers, mothers and fathers improve their employment, money management and parenting. They pay down debt, repair credit and build savings.  As Family Renew Community celebrates 3 decades of service to the community, we observed many synergies that make them a great candidate for our support and the SSMG Community Foundation is excited to be able to make a material contribution to the organization’s important endeavors.

The SSMG Charity GOLF CLASSIC happened on MONDAY, JULY 27th, 2020 at the Conservatory at Hammock Beach. We were thankful to welcome everyone to a much deserved day of golf and fun, all undertaken in the interest of supporting the local community (most specifically Family Renew Community).  There were several on-course games and activities that invited the competitive spirit.  There was a “traveling silent auction” where players bid on amazing donated items including a weekend stays at the Hilton Daytona and the Hammock Beach Resort complete with a round of golf at the renowned Ocean Course, wine & dinner pairings at local restaurants, as well as traditional golf tournament raffle drawing prizes (Yeti coolers, premium golf equipment, themed gift baskets).

We thank all our sponsors, players, volunteers and The Conservatory staff for helping us to donate $25,000 to Family Renew.
