The East Central Chapter of The Florida Swimming Pool Association (FSPA) recently hosted their 2nd Annual Golf Tournament and Southern States Management Group (SSMG) participated. The fundraiser supported the Flagler County Lifeguard program providing swimming lessons to those in need. This was the second year that SSMG joined this local group to raise much needed funds. PALM COAST & DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Monday, December 14, 2020) – On Monday, November 16, 2020, Joshua Trujillo joined Southern States Realty Services (SSRS) staff as the Marketing Coordinator & Operations Manager. Trujillo joins SSRS with some great advertising and marketing experience – working with both media and real estate. Trujillo will be the operations arm of SSRS’s real estate entity and will manage their portfolio of rental property clients. Trujillo is a Daytona Beach resident but originally hails from just down the road, in Brevard County, and brings with him a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and a Florida Real Estate License.

Also, Brianne Bailey has joined the Southern States Management Group (SSMG) team. Bailey will be working as a part of SSMG’s corporate administrative staff. She relocated to Palm Coast from Utah where she worked in several different positions with the Strawberry High Line Canal Company. She brings with her a significant amount of administrative experience – including human resources, fleet management, IT operations, meeting preparations and documentation and planning and development and more.

The Team at Southern States Management Group put together 22 Thanksgiving baskets that will be donated to Volusia County Schools this month. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Southern States Management Group, Inc., (SSMG), a “lifestyle management” firm serving Volusia and Flagler County communities, celebrated their 31st anniversary this past October. Managing over 15,000 local homes in the area, SSMG is proud of their three decades in the community and enjoyed a day of celebration of their employee’s dedication.

This year, the leadership team implemented the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) Award. Employees nominated a fellow co-worker who goes above and beyond, who is always willing to support and who demonstrates the positive qualities of a SSMG team member. Valerie “Cissy” Steger was awarded the GOAT Award for 2020 receiving a traveling trophy. Cissy also received her license in Community Association Management in October 2020. Congratulations, Cissy!

And, congratulations to Carsten Georg who became a Licensed Real Estate Agent in October 2020 and Coleen Washington who is also now a Licensed Community Manager.

Many of our communities have feral cat colonies that volunteers have to deal with on a regular basis. What does deal with mean? Health issues? Waste issues? It becomes challenging to educate community members and enforce applicable rules and restrictions What is the alternative? Let them starve to death? But, Board Members, take note, you may want to discuss this as a Judge recently sided with a local Association. 

One of our existing Volusia County clients was forced to file suit against a non-compliant owner who refused to abide by community rules. A virtual court proceeding was held via Zoom and the Judge sided in favor of our client. The community was awarded full reimbursement of their legal fees at the expense of the offending owner. Additionally, the owner was warned by the judge that ignoring the judgment and the continuation of this noncompliant behavior could land her in jail for contempt of court.
