The past few months have certainly been interesting times around this great country of ours and at Southern States Management Group, as well!

Like everyone else, Southern States Management Group was quickly challenged to adapt to the ever-changing Covid19 landscape while continuing to successfully manage our own business and keeping the business of all of our community association clients moving forward. Our pro-active approach and implementation of the dynamic technological trends has enabled us to continue to be effective, efficient and responsive to many of our community association directors and individual members.

In-person community association experiences still seem somewhat improbable right now but we continue to boost those remote access capabilities that allow our corporate leadership, community management and accounting personnel to be accessible. Our communication channels are wide open and strong and our general responsiveness is prompteven though “traffic” inside our physical offices continues to be limited for the safety of our staff and clients. With the utilization of Zoom and other remote tele-conferencing outlets we have successfully facilitated many association meetings and continue to deliver our ongoing educational initiatives so our clients can further satisfy statutory training requirements and remain well versed in the best business practices of community association management.

There is still plenty of work ahead of all of us. Please continue to regularly visit the website ( to stay current with educational training opportunities, best practice tips and a whole lot more. We are optimistically cautious for the future while being very mindful of the current climate. Our entire staff continues to work full time in our offices, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., weekdays, despite the fact that in-person access to our offices is temporarily restricted for everyone’s health and safety.

We are grateful for your support and sincerely thank you for your business and patience during these unique times. As always, your comments and feedback are always welcome and appreciated.

Thank you.

Earlier this year, Southern States Management Group  created a private Foundation for the purpose of improving the standard of living for those in need in our immediate areas with specific emphasis on transitional and permanent housing, physical and mental wellness, social stability and educational opportunity; we believe that these factors are paramount for a state of improved livability. More specifically, the overarching goal of the Foundation is to provide financial and in-kind resources that will directly and immediately improve the quality of life of individuals and families in Volusia or Flagler County.

We hosted our inaugural event, a team scramble golf outing at the Conservatory at Hammock Beach, last month which afforded the opportunity to make a sizable contribution to Family Renew Community in the amount of $30,000.

Family Renew Community provides safe and stable transitional housing for area families with children in need and equips them with the tools they need to be self-sufficient going forward. The organization has 32 apartments at three different campuses in Holly Hill, Daytona Beach and DeLand. These housing units are available for six months or more with no rent or utility payments due. Family Renew Community offers about 60 families a year safe haven from desperate situations and offers more than just temporary shelter. Southern States was proud to have had the Family Renew team at the event as ambassadors of the program to speak with the 144 golfers and nearly 50 event sponsors.

“I want to take this opportunity to further convey the impact of your gift on Family Renew Community as an organization and the families we serve. Your gift is the largest gift Family Renew has received so far this calendar year, with the exception of a bequest. Your gift covers more than 3 percent of our budgeted annual operating expenses for 2020. So you can see that your donation will do much to keep Family Renew Community strong through this challenging time. It will allow us to continue to help families change the direction of their lives despite the pandemic. Your gift exceeds the average amount Family Renew Community invests to lift THREE families out of homelessness, with a 95 percent chance of maintaining stable housing in the months and years to come. Research shows experiencing homelessness as a child is the leading indicator of whether a person will be homeless as an adult. By making that childhood experience of homelessness brief and nonrecurring for the boys and girls in these families, you are interrupting that cycle for generations to come. Thanks again,” expressed Denise O’Toole Kelly, Development Director for Family Renew Community.

The team at Southern States Management Group thanks all involved for helping to make this fundraiser such a success! With positive feedback, we have already begun recruiting volunteers and supporters for next year’s “Classic” which will take place again at The Conservatory on Monday, April 12, 2021. We look forward to highlighting more great news from the Foundation and the benefits it will have on our community!

A gentlemen calls the office and says that he needs to come by to, “drop off a letter”. Harley, one of our CAM’s says, “no problem…we have a slot you can drop it through”. The gentleman calls back from the parking lot and says that the letter won’t fit which puzzles Harley. He heads to the door and immediately understands why he was having trouble. It was an actually “letter” that fell off of a building.

Boulevard 1385 Condominium recently had a facelift that resulted in renewed curb appeal in one of W. Granada Boulevard’s original commercial condominiums. The Association’s Board of Directors in concert with their Community Manager collaborated to select a new color palate and paint building exteriors (doors, roofs, doors and trim), undertake full scale landscape and parking lot enhancements, and install new LED lit road side monument signage. We specialize in supporting commercial condominium associations and are ready to work on your behalf. Contact us today for more information.

If you missed our 1st Virtual “We Found Community” Interactive Series hosted on July 15 by Troy Railsback from Southern States Management Group & Rich Cooper from Halifax Insurance Partners, you can still watch the session. The topic was “Hurricane Horror Stories & Preparations”

Thank you again to Rich Cooper who sponsored this educational opportunity for our board members.
